Hi. 1.22pm Wednesday, bored sial.
So, the first week of the Premier League is over, with all the contenders for the title being held to a draw except for champions Manchester United and Manchester City. I also consider Tottenham as a contender, their match was postponed due to the idiot riot.
So, United had to work hard for the win at the Hawthornes, edging West Brom 2-1. This season, I'm predicting it being a two horse race for the title between the two Manchester clubs.
Chelsea, with new manager Andres Villas-Boas, needs time before they start challenging. This man led Porto to an undefeated season last season, but the standard in the Premier League is higher than the Portuguese League by a lot, so I don't think they'll be winning anything the big ones this season.
One player to look out for at Chelsea though, is Fernando Torres,
Yes. The 50 million pound striker who just scored one goal last season. But, as one of my favourite saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent. There's no denying that Torres is world class, and judging by his performance during the draw against Stoke, it won't be long before he returns to his usual self that made him so feared in the league.
One player that's rumoured to be heading to Stamford Bridge is 40 million pound Neymar,
He's being chased by almost every top club in the world, but I think that he's more likely to go to Real Madrid, with Chelsea already overloading with strikers, and the recent signing of Lukaku doesn't help either.
Liverpool will be eager to win the league to draw level with United, like that would happen, XD. But Charlie Adam and Stuart Downing looked pretty impressive during the draw against Sunderland, with Larsson scoring one heck of a goal, XD. Aiya, concentrate on qualifying for next season's Champions League first lah. XD
Arsenal, well, urh..
Yeahhhhh... =/
With Barca needlessly strengthening their squad with the purchases of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal are now without an undoubtedly talented midfielder who is deemed to be Xavi's heir. Eventhough Arsenal still have two prodigies to replace Cesc in that position, with Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsay, I think that they will lack the creativity of the Spanish midfielder.
Eboue has also left the club for Galatasaray, and with Nasri closing in on a move to Manchester City, things are looking down for the Gunners, with Wenger being totally ignorant of the fact that Arsenal's defenders are, by a top club's standard, shit. The Frenchman has bought forwards such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, deemed the next Walcott, some dude from Costa Rica, and Gervinho, who is serving a three match suspension thanks to a red card received on the first day thanks to Joey Barton. Arsenal have also bought defender Carl Jenkinson, but that won't be enough.
As much as I hate to admit it, Manchester City are a force to be reckoned with this season, especially after purchasing world class striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero for a club record 38 million pounds,
He came off the bench to score two goals and one assist in a outstanding debut. A lot of people said that the story would be different if he played in the Community Shield against United, which ended as expected,
XD. We'll get to that.
City aren't short of stars, but one thing that's certain, unlike United, they are lacking the loyalty from their own players, with their big egos, it's like a club full of talented, but spoilt brats, i.e, Mario Ballotelli. He has the talent, but no matter how good he gets to be, I'll never want him in my club.
City already boast one of the best midfielders in the league in David Silva, with Nasri coming in, they will be United's biggest threat this season I reckon.
Champ19ns Manchester United have spent like 51mil pound in the transfer market so far. A new era is dawning at Manchester United. With Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Edwin Van Der Sar retiring, Ferguson has bought the likes of Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David De Gea to fill in.
David De Gea's every move has been under scrutiny ever since he donned the number 1 jersey. Everyone knows that it's one thing to be a good keeper, but it's another thing to be Manchster United's keeper. He blundered in the Community shield match against Manchester City, letting in an Edin Dzeko goal from long range, and recently, conceded a tame effort from Shane Long,
I'm not worried. People are saying how much he's been sucking and all, but hey, you'll see. In a couple of months, critics will see the improvement in him, in a couple of seasons, he will be the world's best goalkeeper.
Ferguson doesn't just randomly spend 18 million pounds on a player let alone a goalkeeper, there's a reason he's bought De Gea and not a experienced 25 year old, and I trust him for that. People keep talking about him conceding that poor goal, but I don't hear people talking about the two fine saves he made in the first half. At the age of 20, he's got the time to improve, I'm not worried.
Even though Phil Jones has just made cameos for United, he has impressed,
With Vidic and Ferdinand ruled out of the important clashes with Tottenham and Arsenal, it's time for this 19 year old to shine.
Smalling has also done a good job in covering for Rafael who will be out for months due to a dislocated shoulder, Evans looks to be more stabil than he was last season, Fabio needs to improve in concentration.
In midfield, it seems that Sneijder won't be arriving amidst reports that he's very close to being a Red Devil. Tom Cleverley, who spent last season on loan with Wigan, has been seen as some as the heir to Paul Scholes, Anderson will be looking to step up this season, he has failed to impress since arriving at Old Trafford, being deemed the next Ronaldinho. Fletcher and Carrick are also gaining match fitness. On the wings, United have acquired the services of Ashley Young,
Cleverley.
He's been impressive I'd say.
Honestly though, United will need to buy one last player, and that player needs to be a creative goal scoring central midfielder. There's Sneijder, Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund, Paolo Henrique Ganso, who along with Neymar, has been deemed the future of the Brazil national team. My choice would be the highly unlikely Mesut Ozil, who has just been promoted to wear the number 10 jersey by Real Madrid. XD
And so the season starts. Who's your money on?
